Frequently Asked Questions

What is included in DAS training at On Your Bike?

On Your Bike’s DAS package covers three stages: Part 1 is the Module 1 slow-speed assessment (from £225); Part 2 is Module 1 high-speed training, a mock test and the DVSA Module 1 test at the MMA (from £500, including MMA hire and test fee); Part 3 is Module 2 road riding and the DVSA Module 2 test (£525, including test fee). The full DAS package starts from £1,250 with all DVSA test fees included.

What is the minimum age for the Direct Access Scheme?

You must be at least 24 years old. If you have held an A2 motorcycle licence for a minimum of two years, you can take DAS from age 21. There is no maximum age restriction.

What motorcycle do I train on for DAS?

DAS training and testing must be done on a motorcycle that is at least 595cc and produces a minimum of 40kW (approximately 54bhp). On Your Bike provides suitable training motorcycles — you do not need to own a bike.

How many days does DAS training take?

The number of training days varies depending on your experience and how quickly you progress. Most riders complete Module 1 training in 1–2 days and Module 2 preparation in 1–2 days. Your instructor will advise when you are ready to book the DVSA tests.

Do I need to pass Module 1 before Module 2?

Yes. Module 1 (the off-road manoeuvres test) must be passed before you can sit Module 2 (the on-road riding test). The DVSA requires a valid Module 1 pass certificate to book a Module 2 test.
