Frequently Asked Questions
What CBT training courses does On Your Bike offer?
On Your Bike offers CBT training for complete beginners from £225 per person. All sessions are one-to-one or small group, DVSA-approved, and include motorcycle and equipment hire. We cater for riders starting on mopeds (50cc) and 125cc motorcycles.
Do I need my own motorbike for CBT training?
No. On Your Bike provides suitable training motorcycles for all CBT sessions. You do not need your own bike. We also provide helmets and hi-vis jackets — just bring your provisional licence and appropriate clothing including sturdy ankle-covering boots.
What happens after I complete my CBT?
After your CBT you receive a DL196 certificate valid for two years. This lets you ride a 125cc motorcycle on L-plates on public roads, unaccompanied. From there you can progress to full licence training — either A1, A2 or, if you are 24+, the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) for a full Category A licence.
Can I do CBT if I have never ridden a motorbike before?
Yes. CBT is designed specifically for complete beginners. The day starts with basic machine controls on-site before any road riding. On Your Bike instructors guide you through every stage at your own pace.
What is the difference between CBT and a full motorcycle test?
CBT gives you a two-year learner certificate — you can ride but must display L-plates and cannot carry passengers or use motorways. A full motorcycle test (Module 1 + Module 2) removes all restrictions and gives you a full licence category. DAS training at On Your Bike covers the full route from £1,250 all-inclusive.
How quickly can I book a CBT course?
Subject to availability, CBT training at On Your Bike can often be booked within a few days. Call 01925 551 555 or visit onyour.bike to check the latest availability and reserve your place.
