What Stockton Heath riders say about us
Every quote below is a real review left on Google, Trustpilot, Yell or Facebook by a rider from Stockton Heath or the surrounding area who trained with us at Thelwall.
I passed my CBT yesterday with On Your Bike. I came in with absolutely no riding experience, and by the end of the day I left feeling much more confident. It was great meeting Angela and Graham, and a big thank you to Angela, who was my instructor. Both Angela and Graham were professional. If you’re in or around the Warrington area and looking to do your CBT, I highly recommend them!

It was an excellent experience with On Your Bike helping me get to grips with the essentials of Motorbikes and every day use. I was a relative novice starting, having not ridden for over 30 years but Paul was very patient with me and when it finally clicked I was away. The training is excellent, and everything is spelled out for you in a clear and concise manner. I would recommend On Your Bike as a great starting place to your motorcycle journey. Would definitely do my CBT here again. Especially if I dont pass my test in 2 years…..

About Stockton Heath
Stockton Heath is one of Warrington’s most desirable villages, known for its thriving local high street, independent restaurants and cafés, and strong community atmosphere. The village sits alongside the Bridgewater Canal, which offers lovely towpath walks east towards Lymm and Thelwall and west into central Warrington.
The A49 runs straight through the village, giving riders a direct route south into Cheshire and north into Warrington town centre. Once you have your licence, the roads heading south through Appleton, Stretton and into the Cheshire countryside are some of the most enjoyable in the area — and Stockton Heath’s central location means you’re well placed to access all of them.
CBT FAQ
The questions Stockton Heath riders actually ask us before they book.
I’m in Stockton Heath — can I actually get to Thelwall on the 5A without a car?
Yes, and it’s genuinely one of the easiest public transport connections we have. The 5A runs from Warrington Bus Interchange through Stockton Heath and straight into Thelwall, stopping right outside the Pickering Arms on Bell Lane — which is a two-minute walk from the Parish Hall. No changes, no connections, just one bus and you’re there in about 10–12 minutes. It runs regularly throughout the day, so you have plenty of options for getting home afterwards too.
I use the Bridgewater Canal towpath for cycling — will I recognise any of the roads during the on-road training?
Almost certainly. Our on-road CBT sessions use the quieter village roads and A-roads around south Warrington, Thelwall and the surrounding area — many of which you’ll know well from the canal-side. The stretch between Stockton Heath, Thelwall and Lymm is familiar territory, and that local knowledge helps enormously. You can focus on the riding rather than the navigation, which makes the whole day feel more manageable.
What are the best roads from Stockton Heath for a new rider once I’ve passed my CBT?
You’re brilliantly placed. The A49 south through Stretton and Hatton gives you a great mixed-road run with a sensible speed limit and manageable traffic. From there the lanes through Appleton, Moore and Daresbury are quiet Cheshire countryside — ideal for building confidence in the early weeks. When you’re ready for something more open, the road south towards Northwich through Hartford is a lovely ride. Many Stockton Heath riders come back for their full licence after a season on L-plates — and at 2–3 miles from the training centre, you’ll have no trouble getting back to us.
Is there a CBT centre in Stockton Heath itself?
No — the nearest DVSA-approved training is On Your Bike at Thelwall, about 10 minutes from Stockton Heath. Small groups, 5.0-star rated teaching and quiet first-ride roads, and you are close enough to be home straight after your CBT.
